A few years ago I made these beautiful lamps from vinyl records. Each one has a unique form that appears when it warps and droops in a warm oven. In the bowl there are white LED´s and the bowl is sealed with a white silk screen. When the light reflects of the grooves in the vinyl and through the silk screen the effect is such that there seems to be motion and depth in the vinyl bowl that is impossible to pinpoint.
Then of course comes the more embarrassing part of these beautiful lamps, the creation. Like any conception the process that lead me to the final product is not quite as elegant as the product itself. One might take the birth of a kitten as analogous, while the kitten is cute just a day old when it shoots out of an exhausted cat all covered in goo… not so much.
