Work Experience

Kúla

Kúla is developing an add on for common camera lenses that enables the user to take 3D photos and video. I work mainly with app development but have been doing some web page and web app backend programming as well. The backend programming is mostly about transforming the two dimensional photos into different formats for viewing.

Ævintýri

In late 2012 I taught myself iPhone programming (objective c / X-Code) and started working on my own project. I have already published an app with in app purchases and hosted the contents with apple. On this project I did all aspects of the production: iPhone programming, web design and programming, translating childrens stories, studio recording for the reader. I will be pursuing this project as a sideline while employed. The app shows illustrated children’s stories and the stories are read out loud.

Landsvirkjun

Worked as a computer and network administrator at Icelands largest energy producer. With about a 100 servers, 300 workstations in offices and power plants all over the country. Most of it was Windows based and centrally administered though some Linux servers found their way in. My main responsibilities were the maintenance of server hardware, software, operating system as well as backups and restorations of data. I was also running the security surveillance cameras both at the offices and power plants as well as maintaining the virus system and secure web scanners.

Gavia/Hafmynd

Worked on all aspects of the development and testing of an AUV (autonomous underwater vehicle). I did assembly and testing of electrical equipment the vehicle was composed of. Developed micro control drivers for components used by the vehicle. Developing a system running on linux to collect data and controlling the autonomous running of the vehicle. I also did testing both in house and out at sea as well as assisting customers in the field.

Medtronic

Developed a radio receiver to collect data from a pH sensor that was placed in patients esophagus for a week. The receiver was connected to a PDA that could show realtime information about the pH level and the patient could log his actions and feelings at the time. I also worked half time on making automated testing for software and hardware for the the medico industy.

TAL

Tal was the second cell phone company in Iceland and I joined them two years after they started. When I began work there whole development department had recently quit so I inherited a lot of undocumented code that had been written by a small clique of friends and with scant documentation. At the time there I was developing software and services that used the largest real time billing system in the country second only to the credit card systems.
